From the moment we arrived, the warm, cozy atmosphere made us feel right at home—exactly what you want for a traditional Sunday meal. The roast itself was flawless. I opted for the roast beef, and it was cooked to perfection: tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The Yorkshire puddings were massive and perfectly crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Each element on the plate—from the golden roast potatoes to the seasonal vegetables—was clearly prepared with care and attention to detail. What really took it over the top was the gravy: rich, velvety, and absolutely delicious. I could have eaten it by the spoonful. Dined here 2 nights (6th and 7th May 2023). Absolutely delicious food. VERY generous portions and well worth the price you pay. The portions are massive, so either be a competitive eater or order less than you expect as you will be happily full before the plate is empty. Staff working here are an absolute delight too. Very pleasant and welcoming. Very nice atmosphere too and very picturesque surroundings.
The staff are really friendly. The food was served promptly and piping hot. I'd highly recommend starting with a sharing starter as the portions are large. We were the only diners in the dining room and I would be intrigued to visit the restaurant when it has an atmosphere to enjoy. Of all the meals out my party ate during out short break in Pickering, this was by far the best value for money.
Staying at Black Bull touring park in our touring caravan, Spencer's was recommended as a good venue. We have visited twice now for food and drinks and have to say it's a very nice venue. Friendly staff and the food is amazing. Excellent portion sizes and great value. Ps I'm vegetarian and the selection is excellent which makes a pleasant change. Definitely recommend a visit
Lovely little place tucked away, no problem walking in and getting a table. Attentive and friendly staff and very clean premises. Food was absolutely lovely, quick and well priced. Lovely view onto the lake from the conservatory. Highly recommended Thank you
We had a lovely meal here as a family of 4 (2 kids age 8 and 2). The food was great and well priced. There is a well maintained play area outside which keeps the kids busy. One of the staff members was cleaning the play area and noticed how much out youngest loves to sweep up, so he found a small sweeping brush for him to play with and gave him a lollipop for helping. He was absolutely delighted, and what a lovely gesture. Will certainly go back when we're next in the area.
